Entain Granted Five New iGaming Licenses in Germany
Germany’s State Administrative Office of Saxony-Anhalt has granted five licenses to Entain plc, one of the most prominent global sports betting, gaming, and interactive entertainment group.
The important licenses:
The company offers its gaming and poker services throughout the whole of Germany. The company got all the licenses for which it applied, which was a massive success for the Group. These licenses will enable its bwin, Ladbrokes, and Sportingbet brands to offer exclusive gaming experiences for its players. Players will also be able to enjoy a variety of poker games under bwin and Ladbrokes.
Each of the five granted licenses has a term of five years. What is important to highlight is the fact that Entain is the first licensed operator of online poker services.
Entain already possesses the licenses that enable it to offer online sports betting services under each of its brands. With the already leading position in the market, these new licenses will strengthen the company’s position as the ultimate market leader in Germany’s sports betting and gaming industries.
Robert Hoskin, Entain’s Chief Governance Officer, said: “We’re delighted to now have our licenses for gaming and poker services in the regulated German market, enabling us to offer and market them to our customers.
It is an important and welcome step towards achieving the goal of a fully regulated online betting and gaming market in Germany. Only through such regulation and its enforcement will we avoid the reality of customers going to the black market where there are none of the safeguards that reputable operators such as Entain guarantee.”
On a path to leadership:
Entain Group is well-known as one of the world’s largest sports betting and gaming operators in the online and retail sectors. The company was founded in 2004 under the name Gaming VC Holdings S.A. in Luxembourg. It expanded rapidly across different global markets, including Malta, Australia, the UK, and many more.
The company offers a range of online services, including sports betting, casino, poker, and bingo. Under its operation are some of the biggest names in the industry, such as Ladbrokes, Coral, BetMGM, bwin, Sportingbet, Eurobet, partypoker, partycasino, Gala, and Foxy Bingo.
The name of the company was changed as it went under complete rebranding in December 2020, and the name GVC Holdings went into history. The new name, Entain Group, has been chosen to reflect the company’s ambition to rise to the world leader in the field.
The Group operates in more than 20 countries around the globe and is licensed for many markets – so these new licenses are the best way to establish itself as the leader in the industry.
